Lead from the front. This is a phrase that my instructor has preached so many times. I have followed his example over and over, often times not fully understanding why. In the last year or so, I have found that this understanding is becoming clearer to me.
This past Saturday, I took a step into some uncharted waters. It was a huge step for me, way out of my comfort zone. A new division, a younger age group to compete against, with a ton of major experience. I asked my coach to give me some perspective. His response, "Lead from the front. Enjoy the experience. Trust your discipline."
I was disappointed in my performance and began to question myself in so many ways. My instructor walked up to me and said, "You led from the front. You took that step forward. This is all that matters."
Lead from the front. It's a hard place to be, but there's no other place I'd rather be.
